Our promise
The experience gained from more than 50 years of swimming pool grating production and the high quality of the materials used mean that emco can promise an excellent branded product with an attractive appearance and a free choice of shapes.
Every part of the emco swimming pool grates is made of weather- and ozone-resistant plastic and is chlorine-, sea- and mineral-water resistant. Our swimming pool grates impact resistant, with high abrasion resistance and non-slip properties, as well as good chemical resistance.
Cleaning swimming pool grates
To maintain the durability of emco swimming pool grates, regular and proper care and cleaning of the gratings is necessary. The gratings should be cleaned once or twice a week (or even more frequently in thermal and brine baths, mineral baths and sulphur baths) and in compliance with DIN 19643 and the data sheets of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für das Badewesen (the German society for the pool industry).
To clean emco swimming pool grates, we recommend only commercially available neutral and mild alkaline plastic cleaners*. The dosage and exposure times of the cleaners should be taken from the manufacturers’ instructions and must be adhered to. In any case, all cleaning agent residues must be washed off with plenty of clear water (this can also be done with a pressure washer of up to 50 bar and a maximum water temperature of 65 °C, at a minimum distance of approx. 30 cm from the grating). Unsuitable cleaners, incorrect dosages, overly long exposure times or insufficient rinsing with clear water can lead to the material becoming brittle – even porous – and possibly discolouring and fading prematurely.
* Note on cleaners. Please only use cleaners that are included in the list of tested cleaning agents for ceramic coverings in swimming pools (List RK). The cleaning agent manufacturer’s instructions for use and dosage must be strictly adhered to.
Design grating care
Because the emco swimming pool grate type 723 DESIGN is covered in tiles or natural stone, special care and cleaning recommendations apply, which are enclosed with each delivery. We shall be happy to send you these on request. The chemical and physical resistance of swimming pool grate type 723 DESIGN is greatly influenced by the chosen tiles or natural stone. Please refer to the information provided by the tile and natural stone supplier.
Hygiene mat care
The same instructions apply to the care and cleaning of the hygiene mats types 600 and 601 as to swimming pool grates. On type 601, however, please use the pressure washer only for a short time, to avoid damaging the mat.
Cleaning installation frames
Care and cleaning of installation frames made of chrome-nickel steel (V4A, material no. 1.4404): Avoid using cleaning agents containing hydrochloric and acetic acid on and in the vicinity of chrome-nickel steel frames under all circumstances. Cleaners* based on phosphoric or citric acid have proved to be effective. If the pool water dries repeatedly on chrome-nickel steel frames that are not constantly rinsed by the swimming pool water, dirt particles may be deposited on them. Without regular cleaning at least once a week (in accordance with DIN 19643 and the data sheets of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für das Badewesen – the German society for the pool industry), this can lead to pitting corrosion, which becomes visible through rusting in the form of brown spots.
Installation frames made of glass-fibre reinforced polyester: The same care and cleaning instructions apply as for emco swimming pool grates.
* Note on cleaners. Please only use cleaners that are included in the list of tested cleaning agents for ceramic coverings in swimming pools (List RK). The cleaning agent manufacturer’s instructions for use and dosage must be strictly adhered to.
Winter storage
Outside the bathing season, swimming pool grates (if used in outdoor pools) should be stored and covered with a suitable film to avoid unnecessary damage and soiling to them.
