Cleaning and maintenance tips

Prettily hidden.

Emco carpet mats are available in a range of designs. Most of them have a pattern or logo on them. Due to the function of the mat to hold dirt, the design “hides” behind the dirt that is held. Regular care of the products opens the fibres for increased dirt uptake and allows the design to shine again. And the need for the next clean is automatically displayed by the mat when the design could do with another refresh.

Emco carpet mats are is designed for use in buildings. We recommend the use of carpet mats as a third zone for moisture and residual dirt. Zone one for coarse dirt and zone two for fine and damp dirt. The Outdoor carpet mat product can be used not only in indoor areas, but also in roofed outdoor areas (coarse dirt).

All of the mats with a rubber backing (all of the mats that can be washed in a washing machine according to the washing recommendations) are subject to the risk of fading (FAQ) due to the influence of UV and ozone. It can lead to colour loss of the mats and permanent discolouration of the indoor floor covering. This damage is not covered by the guarantee. A regular (at least every 4 weeks) washing cycle prevents the risk of fading.

The PromoMat Basic and the PromoRunner Basic are subject to the risk of plasticiser migration (FAQ) if the products are laid on a (design) floor. Installing a separating layer (emco Exakt) is recommended. The separating layer prevents the risk of plasticiser migration.

After delivery, all emco carpet mats should be washed in line with the recommendation in order to remove production-related chemical residues and lift the pile. This helps to improve dirt and moisture absorption and improves the high-quality appearance of the mat. The colour brilliance of logo mats is also enhanced.

Mats that are let into cut-outs should be washed and dried approx. 3-5 times before being cut to size in order to avoid subsequent shrinking.

The mats should not be unnecessarily exposed to high temperatures for a long time. To protect the colours, we recommend dry storage at room temperature in a dark place.

Mats with a rubber backing (all mats that can be washed in a washing machine according to the washing recommendations) can be stored flat or rolled up. If storing flat, stack with the backing on the pile side. If stored rolled, roll the rubber side on the outside. The mats should never be folded or bent!

Mats without a rubber backing (hand wash only) must be stored flat, stacked with the backing on the pile side. The border of the PromoMat Basic and the PromoRunner Basic must never be bent. Irreparable stress whitening (FAQ) may occur and make the border become brittle.

All emco carpet mats can be quickly and easily cleaned with a powerful brush vacuum cleaner. The brushes also lift the pile upright again and keep the pile layer (FAQ) “open” to new dirt.

Treat stains as early as possible as some substances can cause permanent damage to fibres and inks. How quickly you act will determine how successfully the mat can be cleaned. Nearly 80% of all fresh stains can be removed with clean water. Sponge off and absorb liquids with a towel (or something similar). Concentrated, dried-in substances such as chewing gum must be loosened (e.g. with a scraper) and brushed out. Water-soluble stains should be remoistened with a little water and sponged off. Please note that stains must be sponged off and not rubbed in. Always work from the outer edges inwards to avoid making the stains bigger. Repeat this process if necessary. If you are not able to remove stubborn stains using this method, contact us for recommendations of suitable products.
